2/27/03  Just back from Patagonia and then Aconcagua. Enjoyed a good trip to Southern Patagonia visiting the Torres Del Paine Park and the Fitzroy/Cerro Torre areas leading a smaller trip. Some sunshine, some rain, lots of wind, kind of the usual weather in Patagonia! Now can finish all the final stuff to get ready for a big season in Nepal this spring. We have the Everest expedition going, then John Rust will be leading our up to 8000 meters program under a Lhotse permit where we have a trip up to the South Col on Everest (camp 4), actually  a great way to see how it feels and how you can perform and what its all about for those who want to go high. Also our Everest Base Camp Trek is happening as well as our Everest View Trek to Tyangboche in the Khumbu Region of Nepal. Lots going. Looks like we will be off to Mongolia this summer in our first exploratory climbing trip. Hope to visit the Gobi desert along the way! We will be having a trip into Peru and over to Russia, Mt. Elbrus also this summer. Also another Nepal trek this fall, Kilimanjaro in November and another go at Carstensz in late November. Lots to do before Everest! Cheers,  Scott

12/12/02  It's been a busy fall with getting our Aconcagua trips going out the door. Daymond Hoffman will be leading our first  couple Aconcagua trips  starting December 14th. We have a big season ahead with Chris Kerrick and John Rust also guiding Aconcagua this winter. A great place for a winter break. Argentina has somewhat stabilized after a traumatic year for their currency. So things are somewhat back to normal. We had to delay our Carstensz trips this fall as to several incidents of violence in Irian Jaya and Bali. This is a wild area of the world and this shows what can happen. We believe these were very isolated incidents and things will be back on track soon. >We have rescheduled our Carstensz trips for June 15th. Things are shaping up for a very big Nepal season this fall with a 2 week trek into the Khumbu, another to Everest Base Camp with an Island Peak climb (this will be with the Everest Climbing Team) and then 2 8000 meter trips, back to Everest and new this year will be a Lhotse climb along side the Everest Trip. Yep, were going back to Everest this spring with a 5 person team. Willie Benegas and I will leading this trip. Exciting to be going back for my 3rd trip now to Everest. This season will be a bit of nostalgia with this being the 50th anniversary of Hillary and Tenzings first climb. Again the Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador season is starting to fill in. Call for more info on trip dates. We anticipate at least 2 trips to Elbrus and another to Europe this summer. Really had a blast last summer in the Alps and Caucuses.  More soon. Scott

9/14/02 Back from several absolutely fantastic trips in the Causcus Mountains and in the Alps. Our Elbrus trip was 100% successful, everyone enjoyed Moscow and the Baksan Valley, Later in the Alps on our first trip,  we enjoyed a perfect summit day for the Matterhorn (one of just a handful of climbing days this season due to bad weather and snow). On our second 2 week trip everyone summated Mt. Blanc. After this is when the fun? started. 1500 ft. below the Eiger summit, early in the day, great weather, everything going perfect, I was hit by a small rock, in the face, so we had to descend. Ouch! A good lesson for all that even doing everything right, things can go wrong! Over in Zermatt with me sitting out and the Matterhorn plastered with snow, John Rust and crew got very close (few hundred feet) from the summit of Monte Rosa in fairly deep snow conditions. Monte Rosa is great, the second highest peak in Western Europe behind Mt. Blanc! A good season all up. Now were getting set for 2 Carstensz trips this fall and a another big Aconcagua season, Patagonia Treks, and Mt. Everest next Spring! We have 3 scheduled trips into Everest base camp, both with Island Peak climbs, the first will be with the Everest climbing team on their acclimatization before going high. The last is our Mera Peak/Island Peak trek. Here in Hood River, Cindy and I are starting to build our new house. SO things will be busy around here over the next year or so. Hope you can join us on one of our upcoming trips.  Scott

7/31/02 Super busy here just getting our Elbrus and Europe trips out. Flying tomorrow for Moscow, then Elbrus. After that its to Switzerland and France for the classic Alps Trilogy, the Matterhorn, Mt. Blanc and the Eiger. Lots going this fall with Carstensz happening in October (full) and November. Our Patagonia Trek is happening in December, then Kilimanjaro in January. Excited about plans for the new office over the winter. We will be going back to Mt. Everest next spring with a great crew, this will be my third trip there now. Contact Yvette here in the office if you have any questions on any of our trips. Scott

6/4/02 Back in the office after a long string of trips to Patagonia and then Everest. Reached the summit of Everest May 16th this spring. Now its back to work getting things set for more trips starting with Elbrus in August, then 2 Europe Alps trips in late August/September. Have Africa going in December and Carstensz going in Nov.. See our schedule or call if these sound interesting. This summer will see Cindy and I starting to build our new home here in Hood River. So a super busy year again coming up. Everything looks set for Everest next spring with 3 going now. Lots of Aconcagua and Patagonia trips going as always. Stay tuned as we have some interesting things going for Antarctica in the works. The Shackelton/South Georgia Island traverse and climbing/trekking on the peninsula all a friends new boat (super big). Scott

2/3/02 Back from several great trips in Africa. Kilimanjaro, a good safari, then to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco followed by some great camel riding in the Sahara! Now to get ready for Everest! Scott

2/20/02 Some great trips going now. Have a Patagonia Trek leaving March 8th, a Carstensz Pyramid expedition April 7th, Everest March 24th, some time to get our new web page going, then the summer in the Alps and Russia. Elbrus Aug 4th, the European Alps Aug 27th. Join us for a great summer and fall season. Nepal for the post monsoon is shaping up. Another Carstensz trip is going  Nov. 16th, Cho Oyu also this summer!

3/6/02 Super busy trying to get our new page finished and up before leaving to Patagonia then Everest! Should have expedition reports coming from Everest. Yvette is back in the office handling things while I am on Everest. Back to work as we have only 24 hours to go! Scott Woolums
