Gerber Legendary Blades and Multi-Tools
Thanks to Gerber Legendary Blades for the super handy multi-tools and pocket knives that we use on Everest. A favorite of the Sherpas. They could take a Gerber 800 Multi-Tool and build a house with it! We use their knives when putting in the thousands of feet of fixed lines we use while climbing, working anchoring the ladders in the icefall and carving Yak steaks at Base Camp!
Brunton Instruments for Outdoor Adventure!
Brunton has all the stuff you need to get out there! We will be using their Binoculars, solar panels, stoves, and compasses on this expedition. A great selection of the gear we need to climb Everest. The optics on their binoculars are superb, the best way to check out all the changes in the route through the Khumbu Icefall before starting up each morning! Their solar panels offer power at Camp 2 and higher to charge up the various communications devices and radios we'll be using. Check out the new multi-fuel stoves that will be with us part of the way this year also!
Contact 2.0 Software for Expeditions
This is the company that is really out there developing the systems we use when were really up there. They provide the link in technology to allow us to send pictures and video direct to our web page for nearly live coverage. As close to live as possible at least. This is the fastest and most portable connection between the experience on Everest and publishing the information to our trip reports page. There just is no better way considering the portability, weight, size and connection speed/reliability. We use the Compaq IPAQ Pocket PC connected to either the Iridium or Hughes Satellite phones on the Iridium or Thuraya Satellite networks to transmit photos, video, recorded and written reports direct to our web page. Watch our page for the absolute latest and most current reports of live action from Everest this year utilizing this technology!
