Everest Technology 2003

The equipment we use to report on our expeditions from around the world!

So we get asked a lot about what goes into an Expedition to the other side of the world? We have put together a list of everything we bring on our trips to stay in touch and bring you these reports. Its no small game these days getting the technology it takes into the farthest and most remote corners of our planet, keeping everything powered and working correctly.

Some of the Equipment we Use

Iridium Satellite Phone- The 9500 and the 9505

The Hughes Satellite Phone working on the Thuraya Network (Saudi Arabian Constellation)

Regional BGAN Satellite Modem (Thuraya Network) Capable of 110 kbs connections!

    4 Large Flexible 32w Uni-Solar Solar Panels

    2 Sunwize Solar Controllers

    3 Large Gel Cell Batteries

1 Sony NZ-90 Palm, for fun!

1 Compaq IPAQ 3955 with backup battery packs and Memory Stick/Compact Flash Sleeves for photo and video files

2 Sony Micro MV Video Cameras with digital still photo capabilities. IP55 and the IP7. We took the IP7 to the  summit last year and it worked perfect. Super good video from the top!

    1 Dell X200 Laptop

    1 Toshiba 7020 Laptop (backup)

Wireless 802 Network in Base Camp, also Bluetooth linked equipment

Contact 2.0 Software to use the new IPAQ (or Laptop) Connection
