Why go with Adventures International? View our reasons why we feel there is no better choice! Our Aconcagua Program
Update 2006-2007 Season: We have 3
scheduled departures leaving Dec 12th, Jan 2nd, Jan 21st.
Our Aconcagua program has been fine tuned over the past 20 years. With the experience of leading over 85 trips behind us now; we are the Aconcagua experts! In the 2000-2001 season all our expeditions summited! We offer multiple departures leaving almost every week of the season. All of these trips are limited to 6 people. Our trips typically fill, especially during the peak season in January, so plan early (flights get very busy then also). Why go with Adventures International Inc.? Read this before making any plans!
Our new Upper Vacas route has proven to be extremely popular, offering the best combination of spectacular scenery, an excellent schedule, solid acclimatization, non-crowded camps, remote, and yet a technically easy experience to almost 23,000 ft. This is actually a very good way to approach and climb the Polish Glacier as well. This is our primary route that we offer as we believe that it is by far the best experience, away from the crowds on the other routes. The Upper Vacas Valley is located in a protected area of the Aconcagua Provincial Park where access is regulated; it is only in cooperation with the Park Service that we are able to offer this option. Our Polish Glacier option allows anyone that would like to try the Polish Glacier the chance to do so from the Upper Vacas route approach. This is by far the most scenic and best approach to the Polish as it allows the best acclimatization. We also have a unique way to climb the Polish with a bit higher camp that is along the edge at 19,800 ft. which is 750 higher than the standard "Camp 2" that almost everyone go from which creates a summit day almost 4000 vertical feet at over 20,000 ft. This is simply to big of a day for most everyone! Our approach offers an easier way to climb the Polish. Many years the lower Polish is almost impassable due to penitientes down low. Reaching the base of the Polish direct route from up higher allows a much easier and quicker summit day from a higher camp, simple! Call about your experience for climbing the Polish Glacier. We also offer a new option, a well supported trip via the “Ruta Normal” with full porter support. We are one of the first companies to offer a program to climb Aconcagua without carrying heavy loads as usual. We now have one of the most complete and best programs on Aconcagua that anyone can provide. We usually have an apartment in Mendoza throughout the season and with 8 to 10 American guides working, we have a lot of flexibility and support in Argentina vs. companies that fly down for only 1 or 2 trips per season. This is our largest program; we know understand Aconcagua thoroughly.
All our high altitude trips have been carefully designed by Adventures International director, Scott Woolums, and AMGA certified Alpine Guide. Scott has lead 27 trips on Aconcagua via 4 different routes and knows and understands the mountain very well. In addition, Scott has also lead more expeditions on Mt. McKinley in Alaska, 42, than anyone and summited Mt. Everest twice. Our safety and operational standards are some of the highest in the industry. Take a lot of care when selecting a guide service, since anyone can legally call themselves a guide on Aconcagua; yet very few companies have the extensive experience and knowledge to put together safe and successful trips.
