Carstensz Pyramid Expedition Join us for the new and only way to now climb Carstensz Pyramid via the southern, Timka approach! Adventures International is one of the leading companies offering trips into Carstesnz now. We have connections and offer 3 ways to approach Carstensz now. Flying in from Naibiri, trekking in from Sugapa or Beoga, and we have also now permission to go thru the Freeport mine legally! So lets go! Current News Nov 5th, 2007- Just back from climbing Carstensz twice! Great trip, good access- amazingly fun trip! Scott Woolums has now summited Carstensz 3 times and simply knows the area and mountain super well! This trip takes us into one of the most remote areas we travel in the world, the island of New Guinea and its highest mountain. Exotic, primitive, challenging, remote and culturally fascinating! The focus of this trip is a climb of Carstensz Pyramid, recognized as the highest point on the Australasian continent. This is one of the famous “seven summits” of the world. A very remote expedition based out of Naibiri or Timika using helicopters or hiking into Zebra Wall and Carstensz Base Camp. This is the “new” and only current legal approach to reach Carstensz. The whole trip is now considerably shorter with Army Helicopter support. It’s a wild trip all up, we base the trip now out of Denpasar, Bali or Suluwesi, Indonesia and fly direct from here to Timika, West Paypua (Irian Jaya). This minimizes the hassle and risks of travel through Jakarta. The climb is an outstanding limestone rock climb to the summit at 16,023 ft. mountain. The whole trip is in the remote highlands of southern West Paypua, Indonesia (Irian Jaya). After the climb, we can spend time in the southern costal lowlands area visiting the famous Dani people, still very much living in the Stone Age! A remarkable trip that will offer adventure at every turn! We have been there, have led four expeditions to Carstensz now. Join lead guide, Scott Woolums for his third "Seven Summits" round! |
