Ecuador Volcanoes
Visit the highlands of Ecuador. Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Cayambe, and the Illinizas are all spectacular glaciated volcanoes in the Ecuadorian Andes. They separate the high Central Valley from the lower Amazon Jungle. We meet in Quito and travel by private transportation between volcanoes. We have a carefully planned program to acclimatize for these climbs, while seeing some interesting places in Ecuador along the way. We visit the Otovalo market and trek around Cuicoche Lake to acclimatize for Cayambe, our first objective. Then onto Cotopaxi, where we climb from a high hut. Following Cotopaxi we travel to Chimborazo, Ecuador’s highest peak. Over 20,500 ft., Chimborazo is a challenging objective and a great way to experience equatorial climbing at high altitude. We take time in between climbs to relax, see the town of Banos and experience the culture of Ecuador.
