Explore Northern Patagonia and the Lake District
Hut to hut hiking in the Bariloche area. A unique trip through the Lake District of Chile and Argentina, beginning and ending in Puerto Montt, an interesting port in southern Chile. This area is rapidly becoming a very popular destination for trekking and travel. Beautiful Alerce forests, pristine alpine lakes and mountains highlight this region of northern Patagonia. On this trip we can climb the Volcano Osorno near Puerto Montt to enjoy great views of the entire area. After this we continue onto Bariloche, a beautiful Argentine ski resort and Swiss style town. Above Bariloche we follow a classic trek via a series of huts through the Catedral Mountains. An excellent hut-to-hut trip, including 4 to 5 days of trekking through the low altitude granite peaks of the region. We visit Cerro Tronador, south of Bariloche, and then back across the Andes to Puerto Montt via a series of ferries through the Lake District. Excellent lodges, huts and camping along the way.
